The "Preemptive Bleeding" of Future Generations
Much was written, discussed and debated during the Bush years about preemptive war. Perhaps it's time for a similar theme for the Obama administration.
Over at Slate, Daniel Gross argues about "The bogus GOP claim that Obama is trying to bleed wealthy Americans." At Heritage, they are calling the stimulus package a $3.27 trillion "Generational Theft Act."
How much of the "theft" will ultimately be paid by future generations is unsure. Future unknown factors ranging from inflation (which also harms future generations) to the GDP to currency exchange rates will influence the tax burden on children and their children. Whatever the cost, our young will be forced to pay off the debts currently being placed on our national credit card.
Both the "old media" and the "new media" like catch-phrases and memes to describe social and political phenomena, so I'll suggest that we start calling deficit spending what it really is: the "Preemptive Bleeding" of future generations -- unless someone has a better idea.

in what world does inflation harm future generations?
inflation harms retirees. current workers and their children still get cost of living increases.
By the neo-Keynesian policies that began with JFK...
... that ensured that real wages in America would change very little while producing artificially inflated GDP.
umm... that claim isn't supported with statistical evidence.
peak real wages happened in the 70's.
