Fake IA voter gets an absentee ballot ... in Rome

A bunch of election fraud blogs have popped up in individual states. Here's a great one from Iowa with a great story. In this case, fraudulent voter registration led to an absentee ballot being sent to one of the fake people ... in Rome:

A concerned citizen from Sioux City, IA made a trip to her auditor's office last week to inquire into some political mailings her family kept receiving. She discovered that several individuals unknown to her or her family had registered to vote using their address in 2004. Even more concerning is the fact that one of these folks, (Iowans love this word) Mr. David Loepp, had already requested and recieved his 2008 absentee ballot via international mail in ROME. Voter fraud in Iowa? Never!

Note that this fake person who doesn't exist signed an request form for the ballot. Click through to see the application and see the signature.

Registration problem, yes...

but is there evidence that David Loepp has ever voted from this address?

Is there evidence that a David Loepp ever lived  at, say, 4051 Country Club Blvd? Or 5401? Or some other innocent transposition of the numbers?

Interesting...

The affidavit that the person signed indicates that she thinks Mr. Loepp has never lived at her address. As registering to vote from abroad requires listing the address one last lived at in the states, its possible Mr. Loepp lived at that address in the late to mid-90's, possibly as a renter (and thus wouldn't appear on property tax records), and has been abroad ever since. Or as the above commenter reports, transposed some numbers in an address he hasn't had for 10 years. Curious, yes, damning proof of fraud, no.

No, not damning, but...

... it's at least reasonable to assume that all of these reports of fraudulent registrations may well increase the potential for voter fraud, no? Conservatives have every right to be concerned and vigilant.

I personally think the push/pull of "Democrats think Republicans suppress votes," "Republicans think Democrats vote multiple times" actually works reasonably well to ensure a fair electoral process. There's no way to ensure a perfect process, as far as I can tell.

Ah yes more Democrat voter fraud.

The beat goes on....

Tampering with Mail and Slander in Iowa

The law or laws broken are by the "concerned citizen" in Sioux City, IA for opening someone else's mail, posting it on the internet and slandering that person. They also didn't do their homework. David Loepp Sr. was a three term mayor of Sioux City, IA and built the house at that address. The David Loepp being slandered is his grandson and is entirely in his rights to claim his last residency where it was. It is now a matter for Postal Authorities and seeing through the legal system how many people and their blogs will be held accountable for this illegal activity.  I will watch this with great interest as "the worm turns".

All this demonstrates is that Mrs. Marybeth H. Brehany (Marybeth Hunt) is ignorant, dishonest and is a law-breaker. It is sad to have on the internet a record of Marybeth Brehany's dishonesty, hatred and stupidity.  Not surprising, Mr. Soren Dayton has also chosen to display his ignorance and his utter lack of respect for the law.
