McCain's "Celeb" Hits a Triple

I am a long-time believer in the idea that the McCain campaign must hang Obama's celebrity status around his neck like an albatross. The most devastating thing you can do to an opponent is make him self-conscious and afraid to run as himself.

The ad leads off with a great first half. And the "more foreign oil" line is killer.

Where it trails off is that the portrait doesn't match the frame. After framing up Obama's celebrity perfectly, the ad transitions into a standard Republican litany on taxes and gas prices. What exactly this has to do with Obama being like Paris Hilton isn't clear.

The ad would have been more thematically seamless if it honed in on the one or two best examples of Obama's naivite or selling American interests down the river to please the adoring Berlin crowds. Obama's "without preconditions" quote on Iran would be a perfect example. The theme: Obama's celebrity naivite isn't just misguided. It's dangerous.

Dayum!

So this is what my leftwing friends are scared of when they say "wait until the campaign starts".  The "Obama" chants are quiet effective, much more scary than the typical ominous background music you see in political ads.

I like what I see.  McCain is not the p*ssy we thought he was going to be.

I still think he grounded into a double-play.

I don't think you win many voters by painting your oponent as being followed by legions upon legions of supporters. Makes it look like you're running against insurmountable odds and waging an impossible campaign.

People like to back a winner. This ad makes Obama look like a winner and McCain look like a loser.

Where do I start?????

Patrick<---- your veiled racism is showing through buddy.   You said, “the McCain campaign must hang Obama's celebrity status around his neck like an albatross.”   Why didn’t you just say what you meant ---McCain should just hang this N******

BTW, if you check you will find that McCain was standing with Hilton a while back---Just another gaff in the long line of confused statements and actions. Of course since McCain does not speak for the McCain campaign I’m at a loss of who is really in charge there!

RedMango<---- you must be a moron! McCain may be a lot of things, but he is no pussy as you claim at the end of your post!!!  I don’t support McCain because his support of our troops has been appalling in a number of areas. Being a veteran and POW does not substitute for support! The lack of support and personnel in Afghanistan is an albatross that should be hung on McCain forever!!!

Obama team 'its racism' desperation ... *already*?!?

The Obamaniac trolls are calling this celeb ad ... racist?!? ROFLMAO.

C'mon guys, at least save your heavy ammo for when the campaign really starts. That is just laughable nonsense. oh, and a great way to lose even more downscale white voters.

gunthestops:  I am sorry you are the product of such an awful education system that you see a racist under every bed. I dont blame you, I blame the politically correct leftists running the NEA and most college campuses who have created the idiotarian left.

It ain't going to

It ain't going to workPatrick. One of McCain's hole cards is that he is a "straight shooter". You cannot walk both sides of the street, aka "i will run a clean campaign" on one side, and a personal subliminal racist attack on the other!!!

But, it is comforting to see the Republican brand return to its roots. Let's get a bucket of slime, and start heaving the stuff!!!

COUNTRY FIRST

Ouch, that's gotta hurt. It's the signoff from the second ad in the series. I think the ad is better than the Celeb one because it focusses on what Obama has not done.

Country First is graceful way of making clear what our priorities should be, and putting the question front and center: Who puts country first? Who will be best for the country?

I believe that is a signoff for McCain that could win the election.
