Patriotism For (Democratic) Dummies
It says something about liberals that a tip sheet on how to behave in public on Independence Day is even necessary, but here's a sampling from the guide posted at MyDD:
-- "If they ask you to bring your own sign, or you prefer to make your own sign, I encourage you to say something positive, either about a specific candidate or about your own values."
-- "If you wear a political t-shirt, keep the message positive. ... Even people who agree with you are probably not going to want to see 'Bush lied, people died' or 'Don't blame me, I voted for Edwards during a holiday parade."
-- "In my experience, few Republicans will bother you, but some jerk might try to get a rise out of you by mocking your candidate, or by saying, 'I voted for Bush.' [ADDED: Real fightin' words, eh?] I wouldn't bother telling them your opinion of Republicans, or asking why able-bodied people like themselves aren't serving their country in Iraq."

Haha ..
You guys are so funny. That diary got three responses. We won't even start with all the talking points you guys use. By the way, when are you guys going to sign up? McCain wants to increase the military by a quarter million people.
Many of us have already served, Calvin
So, Cal, I'm a woman and I cowboy'd up to join the Navy during the Vietnam War, long before it was "fashionable" or "feminist" to do so. My father was a career KC-135 pilot in the Air Force. My grandfather, an immigrant from Norway, was a World War I flying ace. The officer's club at Mather AFB, CA had a gigantic mural of him in his Jenny with my dad on his lap, and then another one of my dad as a 1st Lieutenant, John McCain-style in his flight suit, next to his Tanker. My dad, in turn, swore me in to take my oath the day I enlisted.
An entire generation was at peace from the end of Vietnam until the Gulf War. They have an excuse. And public service includes many different types of service besides joining the military. My cousins were terrified of going to war, and served in the Public Health sector as volunteers which - in some neighborhoods - is probably as dangerous as being in a battle group.
You sound like a child, Cal, with these silly taunts. What will be next, something from Monty Python? "You stinking sons of English pig-dogs, I fart in your general direction! Your mother was a hamster and your father was a wart hog!" Give it a rest, my boy, and enjoy the celebration of the freedom that was purchased for you by the blood of good men and women who were Republicans, Democrats, and neither. Yeesh.
Monty Pytton?
That is a new one. Since I am here to stir up the pot as it may, I'll give you a clarification. The ones calling the loudest for war never served(Cheney, Bill Kristol, Jonah Goldberg, etc.) Those are the Republicans I am talking about. They are the ones that call people that disagree with them ant-American and other such taunts. And silly taunts? How does it feel to have the shoe on the other foot now? How does it feel to be headed for Goldwater-esque type defeat?
Obama would invade Pakistan
Obama would invade Pakistan if he found out Bin Laden was there.
So, you ought to be against Obama, since he advocates for war, and has never served.
Where-as, McCain has served, and his sons are serving.
Can you show me one paragraph with links of Cheney, Kristol or Goldberg calling people un-American?
What?
Obama would invade Pakistan if he found out Bin Laden was there.
Invading Pakistan and going into Pakistan after OBL are two different things. He never said he would invade, only that he'd follow OBL over the border into Pakistan if need be.
Obama needs to call his buddy Ayers for advice
Perhaps Ayers or Farrakahn would know where their terrorist cohert would next hide.
