The Left Is In Full Retreat

Did conservatives or progressives win on Tuesday? Don't listen to what they say, pay attention to what they do.

Politico reports "Climate change on the back burner?"

Climate change has slipped so far down on the agenda that at least one key committee chairman has suggested it might have to wait until after the 2010 elections.

A number of factors are conspiring against the Senate version of the bill: a Republican boycott on the Environment and Public Works Committee, a new EPA analysis that could take at least five weeks and wide-ranging disagreements among six competing Senate committee leaders who have jurisdiction.

“Some people are talking about not doing it until after the 2010 election,” Commerce Committee Chairman John Rockefeller (D-W.Va.) said Tuesday.

ABC News reports Top Dems: Obama Won't Get Health Care Bill in 2009

Senior Congressional Democrats told ABC News today it is highly unlikely that a health care reform bill will be completed this year, just a week after President Barack Obama declared he was "absolutely confident" he'll be able to sign one by then.

"Getting this done by the by the end of the year is a no-go," a senior Democratic leadership aide told ABC News. Two other key Congressional Democrats also told ABC News the same thing.

The Senate is not going to vote on health care till January 2010. The Senate is not going to vote on cap and trade till after November 2010. The left is scared and on the run. We have the initiative. We need to press them on jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs.

Well...

Climate change legislation did just move forward getting voted out of the US Senate Environment and Public Works Committee today.  So there's continuing to be movement at least so far.

As for health care- there are only a few weeks left in the legislative calendar.  I'd certainly prefer they get it voted on this year but realistically it won't take effect for several years if approved so it's not like a delay of a few weeks to get past thanksgiving/christmas is going to have any real impact on the effects of the bill.

You might consider that with the economy showing signs of improving its tactically to the dems advantage now to go a bit slower.  As the economy comes back up their numbers will likely rise with it, and people will be less concerned with, as you put it, jobs, jobs, jobs.

Can you count?

So two Dem's are elected to the House.  From CA 10, a more-liberal one.  From NY-23, a Repub is turned out and a moderate Dem in added.  And the Congressional Dem's are in full retreat.  Have you been reading too much 'RedState'?

Pay no attention to big races and real polls...

... ignore the 2 Governor sweeps that were bigger wins than in 1993 (history repeats itself) and the fact that Virginia 2009 just went as red as Texas was in 2008,

Pay no attention to 10,000 protesting PelosiCare at the capitol today.

Pay no attention to Obama's poll ratings dropping the fastest of any first-year president in 50 years.

... and  just live in the Alice in Wonderland fantasyland America just loves higher spending and higher taxes until we are bankrupt, jobless and in hock to the Chinese.

Good GOD you leftists are sooooo stupid.

Yes, dodge the real issues and offer no policy substance!

Excellent idea!  Not sure why you "conservatives" didn't think of this before!?!?  Why actually govern, anyway?  I mean, what's the point?  As long as we have an active military supported by massive deficit spending and we're working to have the remaining tatters of government busy intruding in womens' wombs and disrupting contractual arrangements between consenting adults in the name of religion, well that's just what the White Male Christian Founders wanted, isn't it?   (sarcasm off)

Get a grip, people.  Democrats want a principled opposition. What you're offering here is pure, cynical trash.  More smoke and mirrors from the people who brought you the Iraq war and the bungled response to Katrina all while cutting taxes and spending us into oblivion (and don't pull out the discredited canard that this is Obama's deficit - you built it!).

Another looney leftist engages in projection

"ong as we have an active military supported by massive deficit spending"OBAMAS SPENDING POLICIES

"tatters of government busy intruding in womens' womb"OPBAMACARE -100% intrusion into our healthcare decisions and rights.

(and BTW KILLING a pre-born human being is not 'healthcare' so dont be an igonrant moron.)

"and disrupting contractual arrangements between consenting adults in the name of religion"CAP AND TRADE

"White Male Christian Founders wanted"

Spoken like a member of the racist anti-white Anti-Christian bigot Party.

" Democrats want a principled opposition"HAVING PRINCIPLES OFFERS QUITE A CONTRAST TO Dodd/Rangel/Corzine/Obama and the Corruptocratic Kleptocrat-Democrats.

Well, thank you for proving my point, Freedom's Truth.

Absolutely splendid.  Thanks for taking the bait!

thanks for showing liberal stupidity and arrogance

Yes, your point is that liberalism is a mental disorder.

Really, it is almost a self-satire in liberal arrogance. Well done.

If you really believe what you said - which you surely don't - you are unhinged and mentally unstable.

In Full Retreat

After listening to the outright lies, harebrain schemes, and sheer stupidity on display from what passes for mainstream GOP figures on the Capitol steps today, I think it is clear that what is in full retreat is the sane part of the GOP.

More liberals in full projection mode

More liberals in full projection mode.

"outright lies, harebrain schemes, and sheer stupidity on display"

That's the Democratic Congress for ya.

Lies about healthcare - Lies about not paying for abortions when it does, lies about Medicare impact.

Corruption - Getting AARP support in exchange for gutting competitors to AARP's medigap plan while levaing AARP alone - Chicago-thug politics 101.

Sheer studipity - passing bills without CBO scoring. Putting a bill forward that takes over 1/6th of the economy when A MAJORITY OF AMERICANS OPPOSE IT (see Rasumussen polling) and not a single GOP member supports it.

Learn to write a complete sentence, but DON'T leave a space

between them, so they can become PARAGRAPHS.

And NEVER use the CAPS LOCK key, or people will think that you are MENTALLY ILL or a WINGNUT.

BUT, I REPEAT MYSELF.

As right as rain in a flood

Those who think they are right

are condemned to repeat themselves.

Those who think they are right

are condemned to repeat themselves.

By God! I knew it!

But whos counting?

Press reported about 4000 protesters yesterday, most of them astroturfed in.  The speaches were nutty.  A clear majority of Americans support a public option, yet Republicans say that attempts to pass it amount to dictatorship.  Republican Congressmen and Congresswomen say this in public to medium sized crowds.  This sends a clear message to the American people: to Republicans, it's not democracy unless we get what we want.

Interesting

Interesting that the commenters most interested in rational conservatism, or "principled opposition" as Dean2 puts it, seem to be the liberals. Step it up conseratives, and don't let the wingnuts push you around.

Healthcare bill is coming to a vote on Saturday in the House.

I guess they didn't hear the bugle sounding retreat.

The gap between the title of this post and the "evidence" it presents can best be described as "yawning".

And yet this is considered front-page worthy???

Ironic title. Check. Front paged in haste. Check.

The gap between the title of this post and the "evidence" it presents can best be described as "yawning".

And yet this is considered front-page worthy???

I am reminded of another front paged post from a few months ago that beats this, titled "The brilliance of Nobel laureate Paul Krugman", diaried by Ironman.

I hope you're right.

I hope you're right. Let's put off climate change, cap and trade, and other lies for 100 years. Our citizens need to keep voicing their disapproval with these Socialist ideas being proposed by this administration. Polls are encouraging and the government will have to start paying attention at some point. casino en ligne
