I think it's time to start a drinking game about the not so subtle Democratic character attack directed at McCain's military service credentials
Within hours of Obama claiming he honored John McCain's service and patriotism, yet another Demo-hack decided to take more shots in that direction
" an informal Obama adviser argued Monday that the former POW's isolation during the Vietnam War has hobbled the Arizona senator's capacity as a war-time leader.
“Sadly, Sen. McCain was not available during those times, and I say that with all due respect to him," said informal Obama adviser Rand Beers. "I think that the notion that the members of the Senate who were in the ground forces or who were ashore in Vietnam have a very different view of Vietnam and the cost that you described than John McCain does because he was in isolation essentially for many of those years and did not experience the turmoil here or the challenges that were involved for those of us who served in Vietnam during the Vietnam war."
"So I think," he continued, "to some extent his national security experience in that regard is sadly limited and I think it is reflected in some of the ways that he thinks about how U.S. forces might be committed to conflicts around the world."
Now I suspect Mr. Beers never spent more time in captivity than maybe a besotted night in the Arlington County lockup, but needless to say, this time spent in Hanoi "sadly limited" Senator McCain.
I suppose by that score Nelson Mandela must be the most "limited" world statesmen of the past century, doncha think?
Also notice the faux yuppie sympathy herein "sadly limited".....is this the foreign policy version of "bitter people clinging to guns"?
Mr. Beers...your attack has fallen flat and now you can deal with the hangover, sudshead
National Review says we are now up to eight Obama supporters who have attacked McCain's military service. http://campaignspot.nationalreview.com/ None of them served with McCain and I suspect many have a rather "chickendove" record on military issues. And do you think it's going to stop....hell no!
This is clearly a concerted effort by the Democrats to diminish the salience of McCain's military service so an unabashed peacenik doesn;t look so bad in comparison.
So, here's my drinking game. Every time one hears another Democrat talking head lecture us on the deficiencies of McCain's military record, we should go out a buy a six-pack of some fine domestically brewed lager. ......then again, me thinks we'll be switching to McDoul's soon since it will probably become an hourly occurrence.
