Illegal Immigration

House Committee: Universal Health Care for illegal aliens

The Blue Dogs are lapdogs. When they had the chance to do the right thing, they simply became towel boys again for Henry Waxman

This amendment was considered as part of the Obamacare bill

Notwithstanding any other provision of law,

no unauthorized aliens shall be eligible for any item

or service furnished under this title.

It was rejected by ONE vote. Looks like an awful lot of Blue Dogs must've got castrated. Let's see how the folks in Bart Gordon's district, Zack Space's district and Bart Stupak's district like these apples Oh and Virginia's Rick Boucher was absent. Maybe the voters of VA 9 can make that a permanent situation in 2010.

First Rule of Political Machines: Reward Friends, Punish opponents

Powerline tonight had the latest of a multitude of blog posts all to the effect that the Barack Obama health care plan is focused on the concept of telling senior citizens to drop dead. The Powerline post cites the Wall Street Journal article authored by former NY LT. Gov Betsy McCaughey,(who is a better policy wonk than political candidate)

McCaughey argues persuasively that the legislation currently being pushed in Congress would "reduce access to care, pressure the elderly to end their lives prematurely, and doom baby boomers to painful later years

RedState has also opined furiously on the "end of life" provisions in the various Obamacare proposals.

Hello, why is anyone surprised?  This is exactly how a bunch of Cook County political hacks operate.

The point is Barack Obama is President in spite of America's seniors. Therefore, politically, he owes them nothing.

51% of voters 60 and over voted for John McCain....the least supportive age group in America for Barack Obama....and for House Democrats

and, guess what, seniors weren't always a GOP base group---the last Democrat elected President, Bill Clinton, found they were his best voter group in 1992.

So, guess what. Seniors demand a lot of medical services and deliver few Democratic votes---especially seniors in rural areas and Red States...so ...hmmm...let's look to cut their stuff first.

Now  we know some other groups were more supportive of the Obama election. And how are they liable to fare?

The President tells Katie Couric his plan won't cover illegal immigrants.   Other observers beg to differ.

The plan includes some provisions aimed at "diversity." Evidently the import of the Ricci v. DeStefano decision is lost on Capitol Hill policy wonks.

And we know that taxpayer funded abortion will be the law in all 50 states if Obamacare passes.

So we know that the folks promoting various groups of color and the abortion lobby will get what they want out of the Obama bill. And why not.  The exit polls show that the black, brown and pro-choice all voted for Obama. Putting their stuff in the bill is the Chicago way.

It appears that the "Blue Dog" Democrats have figured out their constituents are going to be on the short end of this stick.  Perhaps they understand the dynamics of their districts a little better than city dweller Nate Silver does.

(Note to Nate: I actually worked for a swing district Congressman. The last thing we ever wanted was to have the President raise controversial issues that would incite the opposition base in our district. This is what you learn actually doing two-party politics)

As for the Blue Dogs, They are probably afraid to have outbursts like this following them around their districts next autumm.  See the Blue Dogs are like the Obama camp. They both want to reward their supporters at the expense of everyone else.

The problem the Obama brain trust now faces is the same people who voted for McCain keep the Blue Dogs in office.  Forgot that little detail, eh guys?

But, once again. If you begin with the premise that Barack Obama and his allies only want to run the government for the benefit of their political supporters, it makes figuring out the details of their policies, much, much. easier.

English - For All That Ails Us

4th-Fireworks

By  Rose Pedenko

My father passed away in December of 2007 at the ripe old age of 104, just two months shy of his 105th birthday.  To the last year of his life, he swore thatVick’s VapoRub was a cure-all for everything that ailed him.  Who am I to argue, after all, he died of old age.

It got me to thinking that the English language was very much like Vick’s VapoRub in our family and that it is likely the answer to much of what ailsAmerica today.

A host of problems stem from an inability or lack of will by immigrants to grasp the basics of our national language.  “English-Only” legislation is perpetually thwarted by liberals, educators, and politicians to advance their respective misguided agendas—and we see the impact of the dismal results on our children.  Bi-lingual education in our schools has been an unmitigated failure. In less than 50 years, it also has become not only absurd but politically incorrect to be an English-Only adherent or proponent.

The English language is the fundamental tool we use to read and thus understand the world around us. It allows us to thrive and succeed in this country -- unhampered by the limitations imposed by tyrannical governments or radical religions on its citizens around the world.  In America, thus far, we have been free to choose our own paths to self-actualization.

Before any members of the PC crowd get huffy, my parents were legal non-English speaking immigrants from Mexico.  Total immersion into this English speaking culture was a necessity prior to the late 1960s, not an option.  There were no crutches to impede our progress like “Press 1 for Spanish.”  It was a sink or swim assimilation.  Becoming an American occurred almost effortlessly, not because we had no other choice, but, more importantly, because we wanted to be Americans.

We spoke Spanish at home to be understood by our parents, and in turn, guided them through the initial language hurdles.  It was both a privilege and a test of their own determination to become American citizens, particularly at a time when citizenship classes and exams were not offered in their native language.  And I never once heard them complain about an unfair cultural challenge, or that the government should make it easier for them.

Fluency in both cultures became seamless, and apple-pie-laden patriotism was our dessert.

Today, many on the left laugh derisively over that little understood and antiquated fervor to become an integral part of the American fabric which was so inextricably woven into our flag 232 years ago.

I’m not embarrassed nor hindered in this fervor for all things American by the likes of Bill Maher or David Letterman.  It is neither pedestrian nor witless to believe in the principles that made this country great.

My parents’ children grew up knowing they are honest to goodness red-blooded Americans.  There was no “Mexican-American” moniker to identify or categorize us -- we knew who we were and are, and wear it with pride.  Our unaccented English paved the way into a society where the only person to blame for holding you back was yourself.  You choose success over failure, and it is not guaranteed or handed to you.  And that is the precious freedom held most dear by legal immigrants.

This then begs the question, do we, by and large, create the prejudices that feed on themselves as a way to cope -- now that diversity has been shoved down our throats?  When we reject what it means to be an American, it creates baggage that should have been left at the border.  Today, immigrants have been taught they can have the best of both worlds.  They can retain their culture (which is the excess baggage) while taking advantage of U.S.freedoms and benefits without paying for it.  What remains are cross-cultural expectations that will never be realized because they no longer fully identify with either country.

So many of the cultural problems we face can be traced to this forced acceptance of diversity, and a lack of language skills which impedes progress.  PC guilt, inculcated by do-gooder academics, has led to anger arising from lawbreakers earning rewards they would not otherwise be entitled to.  It made this week’s Supreme Court reversal of Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s prior ruling very sweet indeed.

One language is the glue that produces unity, and unity in a people breeds strength.  Right now, unity and strength are sadly lacking in this country.  Our political parties are divided and our nation has been rendered weak by appeasement.  America is turning into a Tower of Babel by the left’s efforts to reach their Utopian ideal.

The day we can all celebrate American holidays and traditions together, and bring those exotic ancestral spices to the table for the purpose of conversation, will be the day divisiveness takes a back seat to what drives this country forward--English.

Happy Independence Day.

Stimulate This!

Fist Bump

By Rose Pedenko and Tanya Simon

On September 11, 2001, the United States was attacked with premeditated precision, carried out by a handful of illegal alien terrorists.  That’s “illegal alien” terrorists.

The immediate, most obvious results were the deaths of over 2,700 human beings and the wholesale destruction of public, private and U.S. government property.  Every business was affected, particularly the airlines.  The tally of job losses and layoffs reached 380,000.  Our economic activities in general were disrupted, and there was the passing away of the sacred sense of safety and security.

That and more was caused by those illegal alien terrorists within a period of only three hours on that sunny morning in New York City, across the Potomac River from our nation’s capital, and in a Pennsylvania meadow.  We bring this up for two reasons: first, there has been a concerted effort on the part of liberals to label discussions about illegal immigration as racist and lacking compassion.  And second, the cost to American taxpayers of turning a blind eye to the corruption of our immigration laws is one of the major components of our failing economy.

The monetary calculation of losses after 9/11, including insurance and an immediate jump in military spending, exceeded $180 billion.  Not a small sum, but not enormous either, when compared to recent TARP handouts and the current stimulus package that’s bucking $1 trillion.  Nonetheless, the emotional damage that was suffered will never mend nor can its gravity ever be calculated in terms of dollars and cents.

$180 billion pales in comparison to the mounting costs Americans are presently being bled white to accept in order to mend an economy brought literally to its knees by financial greed and Congressional ineptitude.

The Pelosi-Reid stimulus package does not include any measure to stem the ever-increasing costs to the American taxpayer for illegal immigration. And illegals continue to receive free benefits no matter which way the stock markets fluctuate.

Compounding this fiasco is the abject refusal by members on both sides of the aisle to accept the fact—which is based on undeniable hard evidence—that illegal immigrants remain this country’s singular, most expensive financial problem, as well as a high security threat.  And they aren’t even included in the Democrats’ stimulus package.  However, what is contained, are measures that will compound the problem exponentially.  No amount of political correctness will make this fiscal and security problem go away.  It has been shoved to and kept on the Congressional back burner for the last year during the course of the presidential campaign, principally because both candidates were in favor of amnesty.  But the problem will continue to rear its ugly head.  Gang warfare and the Mexican drug cartels are making our point through the killing of innocent Americans inside the U.S., and by a border war rife with beheadings of military and police.  Are Mexican beheadings less ghastly than Islamic beheadings?

John McCain learned quickly, and the hard way, throughout his campaigning when he attempted to sell his desire to grant amnesty and citizenship to illegals. As stated in the Washington Post article of February 4, 2008:

“No issue has been more critical for McCain to address, and finesse, than his stance on immigration reform. The bill that he co-authored with Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.), which included a proposal to grant illegal immigrants citizenship after they paid a fine and met several other conditions, sparked an outrage among Republicans that he had never seen coming, aides said. His poll numbers plummeted. Critics dubbed him Amnesty John.”

Whenever he mentioned amnesty and/or citizenship for illegals, McCain’s enthusiastic supporters would be struck mute, as though the senator had just passed gas. His unbending attitude might have ultimately been the chief reason he failed to succeed to the White House — causing doubters to stay home rather than go to the polls and vote.

Last week we heard first-hand the hubris that has accompanied Obama into the White House.  His mandate apparently includes appointing ultra pro amnesty (and labor) candidate Hilda SolisIn California, she voted “No” on building a fence along the Mexican border; she voted “No” on reporting illegal aliens who receive hospital treatment; she voted “Yes” on extending Immigrant Residency rules.

California is almost bankrupt, and as California goes, so goes the nation.  As Labor Secretary (assuming she’s given a pass on her 16-years, non-taxpaying husband), Hilda Solis will no doubt do her best to dig us a deeper illegal immigration hole than we are in now.

Speaking of deep holes: A new, very disturbing matter has arisen in the just-passed stimulus bill — the issue of health provisions.  As stealthily as they slipped Tom Daschle’s ideas about healthcare into the stimulus package, illegals with ITINS (Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers) are part and parcel of any added provisions.  How?  Because hospitals participating in Medicare are already forced to provide emergency care to patients regardless of their ability to pay or their immigration status — and the hospitals are reimbursed by the Federal government.

As early as 2001, Senator Charles Schumer (and Buffalo Mayor Anthony Masiello) joined forces with CitiMortgage and Fannie Mae to offer hundreds of mortgages to low- and moderate-income, minority, new immigrant, and other underserved households in Erie and Niagara Counties.  Wrap your brain around the concept of just two counties multiplied across the U.S. and you will have a clearer picture of how we got to where we are today.

Which brings us to Barney Frank and Chris Dodd. They, amongst others in the House and Senate, had a heavy hand in creating and exacerbating the mortgage meltdown.  Illegal immigrants with no credit history were able to qualify for one (and sometimes multiple) mortgages on homes then valued at $500K plus. Yet, the Franks and Dodds of Capitol Hill continue to operate free of criticism or censure by their party.  Barney Frank seems to share the same delusions as “Octomom” when it comes to gaming the system.

Pseudo Republican Sen. Arlen Spector explained that he “was supporting the stimulus package for one simple reason: The country cannot afford not to take action.”  If Spector would give as much gravitas to the costs of not taking action on illegal immigration as he does to this half-baked stimulus package, he might get reelected.  It seems more likely he wants to end his tenure on a positive note – with Obama’s praise, gratitude and perhaps even a fist bump.

Osama bin Ladin wanted to bring down the U.S. economy on 9/11.  Now he just has to sit back and wait for us implode, because with Barack Hussein Obama now at the helm, this implosion may come regardless of our extreme precautions and Capitol Hill’s “stimulating” measures.

NY 20. We got our guy

County leaders in NY 20 have chosen a Republican nominee to replace now U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. They have chosen Assembly Minority Leader Jim Tedisco.

Tedisco is best known as having been a fierce critic of former Governor Eliot Spitzer. , especially over Spitzer's disasterous plan to give driver's licenses to illegal aliens. ( a position, incidentally, shared by Ms. Gillibrand).

He's also a former special ed teacher, which may give him a leg up with the suburban soccer mom vote who deserted the McCain ticket here as in other Blue State suburbs,

Who the Democrats name is anyone's guess, as I've seen names floated of local county committee chairs, lawyer/activist types, an Independence Party state rep. from outside the 20th District, and a recently laid off Channel 10 news anchor.

It's also unknown when Governor Paterson will sign the writ of election and schedule a vote. When the unknowns are known, I'll announce "game on".

CURBING GOVERNMENT & EMPOWERING PEOPLE; An interview with Steve Lonegan - Part II

antlone1Bookmark and Share Confident that he will be the Republican nominee for Governor, Steve Lonegan answered questions in this interview in a way that came across to me as a back to basics strategy. A strategy that would scale back the scope of government and their intrusiveness in our lives. A strategy that intends to strip off the extras which cost us more.

In the previous installment of this interview, we got a good glimpse of that approach to government when the Mayor answered questions involving the Committee On Affordable Housing. Aside from calling the actions of the committee “leftwing social engineering“ he called for its abolishment. Such signs of Lonegans desire to put government back in its proper place are most evident in the area of taxes.

In part two of this interview, Lonegan volunteered that the “first thing” he needs “to do in the state of New Jersey is to cut taxes“. He says “we have the worst income tax, we have the highest top end rate in the east at 9%, we have the highest sales tax in the nation and the highest property taxes“. The former mayor claims that these exorbitant taxes are all “a result of the massive growth of state government”.

He adds that “we also have the worst estate tax in the country so not only can you not afford to live here, you can’t afford to die here” and he made it clear that under a Lonegan administration, the solution that he will provide to the problem will be achieved by cutting taxes across the board which you do by cutting the size of government. He added that he will do so by “cutting it with an axe, not a scalpel”.

  • …..“The number one driving force behind increases in property taxes in New Jersey is the state government“…..-Steve Lonegan, 1/21/09-POLITICS 24/7 interview

As for property taxes Lonegan believes the key to solving the problem is lifting government off of our backs and giving mayors and local council members “back the tools they need to govern effectively rather than become functionaries of the state whose job it becomes to implement all the COAH mandates and all the other unfunded mandates that Trenton heaps on the backs of local officials.”

Stating that after 12 years as Mayor of Bogotá he knows the burdens of which he speaks, and proclaimed that he knows what it takes to cut taxes and that due to the overreaching that Trenton participates in, local “officials do not have the tools” to cut taxes ."

He added “we need to eliminate COAH which will be driving up our property taxes. We need to give mayors and councils the ability to negotiate union contracts on a fair playing field and we need to give school boards the ability to negotiate teachers contracts and give them a fair playing field which they do not have now."

  • ....."The real losers here are the students"..... -Steve Lonegan, 1/21/09-POLITICS 24/7 interview

Another factor, one of the most important factors, in rising property taxes is the 15 year old Abbot School funding formula which Lonegan clearly states is plain wrong. Calling the Abbot funding system “another product of our liberal state supreme court”,

Lonegan explains that we have the 33 most expensive school districts in America. “These are the Abbot districts where spending per student ranges as much as $2,500 and in some cases $3,000 per student and the real travesty here is that after billions and billions of dollars pored into these school districts, we still have students coming out of these school districts with a less than mediocre education, often in unsafe schools”, he added.

  • ….“I think the idea of collecting money from people and sending it back is absurd”….. - Steve Lonegan, 1/21/09-POLITICS 24/7 interview

Still on the topic of property taxes, I asked the Mayor what he thought of the homestaed rebate program which eligible homeowners recieve after paying their taxes. His response was expected and right on the mark. "I think the idea of collecting money money from people and sending it back is absurd. I think the whole sytem should be eliminated" said Lonegan. He further stated that as governor, as he reduces the size of government, "one of the programs that will go will be the homestaed rebate program".

  • ....."cut taxes for everyone"..... -Steve Lonegan, 1/21/09-POLITICS 24/7 interview

But before anyone takes tthe line about doing away with the homestaead rebate and tries to paint Lonegan as someone who refuses to make it easier for taxpayers in New Jersey, he made clear that his goal is to "cut taxes for everyone and give them real tax cuts, not some phomy income redistribution scheme that requires people to call into some stupid phone number and wait for an hour".

Steve believes that if we can "start cutting the state's income and sales tax for the people, they will say, we don't want your rebate anymore" As for the education of our children Lonegan declared that the highlight of his career will be the day that he signs a bill requiring every Abbot school districts to "give a quality education to students with the same funding as every other school district in the state of New Jersey".

If they don't, Lonegan demands that they give each parent of those students a voucher so that they can go to the school of their choice. With much of our discussion dealing with funding and mandates I asked Mayor Lonegan if as Governor, he would refuse any federal funding for the state because of strings that may be attached to it.

When it comes to our return on the tax dollar that New Jerseyans send to Washington, D.C., most of it has to do with the ability of our representatives in D.C. and how good they are at delivering for the state. Our representatives in the U.S. Senate, Frank Lautenberg and Bob Menendez have been a sleep and during their naps, New Jersey has fallen to last place when it comes to the money we get back from Washington.

Although New Jersey could use all the help it can get right now, I asked Steve if there was any limit to what help he would reject t from Washington because of some of the federal strings attached to it.

His matter of fact response was “I certainly would, it depends on the strings of course so it has to be analyzed case by case." The mayor did feel that it is a “sad state of affairs when the federal government uses money to manipulate us into implementing their agenda on the state level."

But that answer cuts both ways. For instance, I am a supporter of legislation sponsored by Texas Senator John Cornyn, which prohibits the use of federal money involving projects that a state or local entity obtains through eminent domain policies. I also support federal legislation to link the refusal of Homeland Security dollars to states that allow themselves to be sanctuary cities for illegal immigrants. However the Mayor’s comment has merit. There are many cases where the federal government does refuse to turn over money to a state if they fall short of adopting some of D.C's intended social engineering programs, programs like COAH for example, and besides, he did state that he looks forward to the day when we don't need any help from Washington.

All in all Steve Lonegan presented a great case for not only conservatives but for taxpayers as well.

He also demonstrated that someone with the experience of a New Jersey township or municipal mayor, might just be what New Jersey needs in a Governor. Who knows best what the ramifications of Trenton’s decisions are in the towns, villages, cities and municipalities, throughout our state, than a mayor who has had to deal with what comes out of Trenton?

His points are hard to argue and the only real area for debate, regarding his points, deal with the approach to the solutions of each of those points and that’s what the Republican primary for the gubernatorial nomination will be all about. In the next part of this interview we will get into that debate as we ask the Mayor about his opponents and his chances of winning. We will also get into what may become a political liability and deep bump in Lonegan's road to victory among Republicans. Bookmark and Share

A friend of mine is in the naval reserves................

A few weeks ago, He was attending a conference that included admirals in both the US and the French navies. At a cocktail reception, my friend found himself in a small group that included an admiral from each of the two navies.

The French admiral started complaining that whereas Europeans learned many languages, Americans only learned English. He then asked. "Why is it that we have to speak English in these conferences rather than you have to speak French?"

Without even hesitating, the American admiral replied. "Maybe it is because we arranged it so that you did not have to learn to speak German."

The group became silent.

No In-State Tuition for Illegals

USA Today reports on several states restricting in-state tuition rates:

In the past two years, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia and Oklahoma have refused in-state tuition benefits to students who entered the USA illegally with their parents but grew up and went to school in the state. That represents a reversal from earlier this decade, when 10 states passed laws allowing in-state rates for such students.

You can read the rest of the story, from USA Today, by clicking here.

There has been a swell of applause in the 259 comments on the story’s page, mostly along the lines of “This is great news. Just take a poll on what REAL Americans want to do with the ILLEGAL Alien Immigrants”. You can expect the same knee jerk reaction in the morning from AM pundits and their rabble roused audience.

However, I have to dispute the predictable “conservative” reaction to this news.

The argument being perpetuated in other states has been that in-state tuition should be a benefit reserved for citizens, not simply residents.

However, at least in Texas, the process of proving your in-state residency also proves that you (or your family) are paying property taxes, whether to a landlord or directly to the state. That’s important, since the in-state tuition discount for college and university students comes from the state’s collection of property taxes. Thus, even a family of illegal immigrants is paying into the system from which the benefit of in-state tuition is derived.

Excluding the offspring of anyone, illegal immigrant or otherwise, who’s been paying into the system for years or decades is wrong. Don’t get me wrong, I’m against illegal immigration. But, although we must address the growing and significant problem of illegal immigration, this method is not the way to do it and should be regarded as inept policy by reactionary politicians.

Arizona Daily Star Blatantly Supports Illegals

I received an interesting article in my email today, courtesy of my morning radio talk show host Jon Justice (104.1 The Truth, M-F, 6-9 a.m.) The writer of the article didn't have the courage to supply his name to the article. It's in the Arizona Daily Star and can be accessed here.

It seems Lou Dobbs is under attack from some fly by night group calling themselves "The Hispanic Institute" and based in Washington, DC has decided to boycott CNN and Lou Dobbs because he has the courage to state the obvious: Illegals are ruining and draining the economy through entitlement programs, crime, prison populations, etc. So, The Hispanic Institute wants to shut him up and they're using a Media Matters report (here).

Let's begin dissecting the article in question (all pictures, emphasis and inserted comments mine):

Hispanic group right to stand up to hatemongers
Our view: Hispanic Institute's boycott of CNN over Lou Dobbs puts networks on notice public won't tolerate hateful lies (who wrote this? No courage to sign the byline???)
Tucson, Arizona | Published: 06.08.2008

The Hispanic Institute, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit group, last week launched a national boycott of CNN, the cable news channel, to highlight unrelenting and erroneous attacks against Latino immigrants (notice how they do not distinguish between LEGAL IMMIGRANTS and ILLEGAL CRIMINALS) by talk-show host Lou Dobbs. While we aren't sure such an effort will be effective and while by its nature, it impugns other good programs on CNN, we agree with the spirit of the boycott (this is a DAILY newspaper finally showing its obscene racist and left slant, boys and girls).

We applaud the institute for taking a stand on behalf of the immigrant community (once again failing to distinguish between LEGAL IMMIGRANTS and ILLEGAL CRIMINALS) and calling on a network to take responsibility for the content of its programs. We encourage other groups — whether they represent minorities or not — to let CNN and other news outlets know that unwarranted attacks that demonize a particular group of people will not be tolerated.

If the Hispanic community flexes its viewership muscles and the boycott succeeds in reducing CNN's ratings, particularly for Lou Dobbs' nightly show, officials with the network might be inclined to get rid of such inflammatory and dishonest programming (how is reporting FACTS inflammatory and dishonest?).

Similarly, we believe local groups could put pressure on Tucson radio station 104.1-FM, which airs "The Jon Justice Show," a morning program that repeats many of the claims made by Lou Dobbs and other anti-immigrant media personalities (Jon ROCKS in bringing us FACTS and the groups such as AZTLAN, MeCha, La Raza, etc. want to censor him because he speaks REAL truth to power--only their voices are allowed to be heard and in their minds, only THEY are allowed the luxury of free speech).

Lou Dobbs, along with fellow CNN host Glenn Beck and Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly, has been behind much of the anti-immigrant sentiment (actually the racist groups themselves have been behind the growing groundswell and the taxpayers are fed up with what their money is paying for) that is gripping the country. Dobbs and others regularly make outlandish and erroneous claims. Among them: that illegal immigrants are responsible for a disproportionate amount of crime, that they drain communities of cash by illegally using social services and that they intend to take over the Southwestern United States (visit the LaRaza/AZTLAN sites--they do indeed intend to take over the SW United States, claiming it is Mexico land; they have even made such statements as these: "Hello we have been here before 1492 then when this land was stolen in 1848"; "We call things racism just to get attention. We reduce complicated problems to racism, not because it is racism, but because it works.--- Alfredo Gutierrez, political consultant, as quoted by Richard de Uriarte, The Phoenix Gazette, March 14, 1992 (quoted in The ProEnglish Advocate, 1st quarter, 2002) http://www.theamericanresistance.com/race_industry/true_agenda_audio.html" and "Our duty is to take back what is rightfully ours, even if it means carrying-out total genocide--Hector Carreon- Nation of Aztlan--NOTE: While I cannot find the actual page this quote was on, visit this site to see what kind of whacked out loons Carreon and his followers are; pictured how these hate /racist groups would like to see the flags placed here in America):

While there are some slivers of truth in what Dobbs and the others say — for example, children of illegal immigrants do cost states money when they attend public schools (and what about the medical costs, the welfare fraud, the special classes, the accomodations in bilingual signs/paperwork--those things cost the taxpayers and exorbitant amount) — their claims were largely discredited in a recent report by the Media Matters Action Network, a project of the Washington, D.C.-based watchdog group Media Matters for America.

In a May 21 report, "Fear & Loathing in Prime Time: Immigration Myths and Cable News," researchers systematically debunked the major anti-immigrant statements made by Dobbs and others. (They consider "Media Matters" LEGITIMATE? Where's the balance to this fringe group?)

For example, the report cited Census data and university studies that concluded recent immigrants are less likely — not more — to be involved in crimes than native-born citizens. In fact, the report said, neighborhoods with higher immigrant populations had lower rates of crime. (Let's take a walk over to the Pima County Sheriff's Department Most Wanted page here: Nine of the ten are Mexicans, although their citizenship status is not listed; the crimes range from killing a child in a DUI to a combined 12 counts of murder/homicide. Here's a few more statistics from the Arizona Department of Corrections as of April, 2008 here: ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS Ethnic Distribution by Unit April 2008--TOTAL 38,594; CAUCASIAN 40.7%; AFRICAN 12.9%; AMERICAN NATIVE 5.3%; AMERICAN MEXICAN 26.3%; MEXICAN NATIONAL 13.2%)

"When it comes to this issue, cable news overflows not just with vitriol, but also with a series of myths that feed viewers' resentment and fears, seemingly geared toward creating anti-immigrant hysteria," the report said.

Programs like "Lou Dobbs Tonight" are harmful and potentially dangerous because they give license (FACTS PERHAPS?) to xenophobes and racists to spew their hate on immigrants.

If such people see men in suits on TV railing against immigrants, it emboldens them to also show hate for someone who doesn't fit their ideal of an "American." To make matters worse, perpetrators of hate crimes often can't tell if a Hispanic person is an illegal immigrant, a legal immigrant or a U.S. citizen.

The FBI reported last year that of all the hate crimes in 2006 motivated by a bias against someone's ethnicity or national origin, 62.8 percent of victims were targeted because of an anti-Hispanic bias. In three years, the number of Hispanic victims of hate crimes jumped 38 percent, from 595 victims in 2003 to 819 in 2006 (How about the three college students executed in New Jersey by illegals here or the ten year old raped by an illegal who recently gave birth here?).

Not all this violence can be attributed to talk-show hosts like Dobbs, of course. But such programs foment anger and obviously don't promote civil discourse on the problem of illegal immigration.

What's surprising about the CNN boycott is that it didn't occur sooner.

We're taking this step after years of CNN management's failure to rein in Mr. Dobbs' irresponsible assertions about immigrants and their impact on our country and its institutions," Gus West, The Hispanic Institute's board chairman, said when the boycott was announced Tuesday.

"The lack of any meaningful response from CNN's management, or any abatement of Mr. Dobbs' offensive tirades, makes it clear to us that the company supports his misleading and often inaccurate positions." (In short, this group wants to silence all those who present the facts of illegal immigration while attempting to muddy with waters with leftist talking points, ignorance of realities and lumping LEGAL IMMIGRANTS with ILLEGAL CRIMINALS)

According to the Nielsen Company, which monitors television viewers, there are 12.1 million Hispanic television households in the United States. (Again, how many are LEGAL IMMIGRANTS versus ILLEGAL CRIMINALS?)

Here's hoping they and their allies can help improve the quality of cable television and the standard of living for illegal immigrants. Just because people are in this country illegally — but helping the nation in countless ways — doesn't mean they can't be treated with dignity and respect. (Why should anybody help improve the quality of life for ILLEGAL CRIMINALS? What Part of ILLEGAL is so difficult to understand? They don't DESERVE dignity and respect, they have EARNED a jail cell and deportation. PERIOD.)

So, as you can see from this blathering nonsense, the Arizona Daily Star, while too cowardly to print a byline to this drivel, fully supports the continuing ILLEGAL INVASION we are infested with every day. They have decided to show their true, racist, hate America agenda by calling for censorship of those brave enough to stand up and tell the truth. They try to hide the facts behind misleading statements designed to tug at emotions. They will not publish the true facts. Nor will they publish the fact the Legal Workers/Employer's Sanction law in Arizona is working and working TOO WELL--it's being challenged (and has been challenged repeatedly) in the 9th Circuit District Court because it "violates the rights of illegals".

Um, newsflash--ILLEGAL CRIMINALS DON'T HAVE RIGHTS. Rights apply to LEGAL, TAXPAYING CITIZENS, not illegal INVADERS. Of course our Governor--currently angling for a VP position with BHO--has supported the rights of the ILLEGALS over the rights of her constituency by trying to take the teeth out of the law as well. LEGAL, TAXPAYING CITIZENS are rising up and their voices are being heard--so much so, the hate mongering, racist groups who haven't been properly challenged before are peddling this soft porn and calling it journalism.

LEGAL CITIZENS AND TAXPAYERS, KEEP THE VOICES RAISED. NEVER let them shut you up. The more they push, PUSH BACK (legally, of course). Legal immigrants will ALWAYS be welcome here and with open arms.

ILLEGAL INVADERS ARE NOT WELCOME. GO HOME. NOW. Get out of our SCHOOLS with your RAZA Studies (pictured TUSD Board Member Adelita Grijalva, daughter of former TUSD board member and current US Congressman Raul Grijalva):

(teaching disrespect for law enforcement, among other things) with your hate programs, get out of our

CITY BUDGET

with your non-essential services and special programs (programs which are funded while our necessary programs such as police and firefighters are NOT, leading to tragedies such as the death of

Officer Erik Hite

), get out of our FEDERAL BUDGET (pictured US Congressman and former TUSD board member Raul Grijalva, father of current TUSD board member and "pusher" of RAZA studies Adelita Grijalva):

with your entitlement mentality, get out of our HOSPITALS with your so-called emergencies you don't pay for and GET OUT OF MY COUNTRY.
